Read the given passage and answer the question that follows.
Dogri is the mother tongue of the Dogras. This language came into discussion when Amir Khusro enumerated Indian languages in 1317 AD. Like other literatures, Dogri literature is also categorised into folk literature and written literature. Like other regional literatures, Dogri literature originally existed in the form of folk tales, songs, idioms, riddles, ballads, karaks, etc. As, initially, Dogri literature existed orally, it passed from one generation to another through oral communication. But now, this traditional heritage is recorded in written form. In the contemporary times, research scholars are exploring this language and preserving their research in their thesis. Their research is also making way into the literary circles with research articles. Tracing back to the 16th and 17 centuries, one may find that the written record of Dogri literature had already begun. Maharaja Ranbir Singh promoted this literature by getting Sanskrit books translated in Dogri with the objective of allowing common masses to have some knowledge about the language. To have adequate knowledge about Dogri in the past, one must read Frederic Drew’s work on Maharaja Royal Durbar. His account of the same is not only in Dogri but also refers to the two prominent eras of Dogri literature, the pre 1940 and post 1940. The language needed attention initially. However, this language is indebted to the revolutionary role of Dogri poets. They wrote extensively to mark a noticeable place in the literary arena. Consequently, the new entrants in the field of research are working hard with an endeavour to promote this language. It seems they feel obligated to strengthen their language and safeguard it from the danger of extinction.
